RYA Sailing Courses - Sailing Xmas 2013 135 From complete beginners to those considering a career in yachting, RYA sailing courses are practical courses are the perfect way to learn and develop sailing skills. We run sailing courses from two of the Canary Islands they last five days and start from our base in either Rubicon, Lanzarote or San Miguel, Tenerife. Anna and Gareth, are both qualified RYA YMI Instructors and are able to teach through to Yachtmaster level. Our approach to teaching is supportive and patient but we will push you and ensure that you earn, and can therefore be proud of, your qualification. More about our courses below ...

We offer the following RYA sailing courses from the Canary Islands :

RYA Competent Crew - for absolute beginners who want to learn the skills of a useful crew member
RYA Day Skipper - introduces the skills to skipper a yacht for those will a little previous experience
RYA Coastal Skipper - develops the passage-making skills of experienced skippers
RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Prep & Exam - an external exam to test the skills of very experienced sailors
Skills Improvement - training tailored to your needs e.g. sail trim, parking practice, anchoring

 RYA Sailing Courses - Duration & Itinerary

These RYA sailing courses have a  duration of 5 days. Courses start on Sunday evening when you will meet your instructor and crew mates and settle into the yacht in Rubicon/San Miguel. On Monday morning we will head off to other places on the island and usually not return to Rubicon/San Miguel until later in the week. The course finishes on Friday afternoon. If you prefer, we can run the course over 7 days from Sunday until Sunday.

Exclusive Use or Per Cabin

If you would like the luxury of having the yacht, and the instructor, to yourselves Exclusive Charter is the way to go. If you opt for an Exclusive Charter both our yachts can accommodate up to six guests with a maximum of five undertaking a training course. If your friends or family aren't into sailing then don't miss out. Simply book a Cabin for one or two people to share and enjoy the company of your skipper and fellow crew mates on one of our scheduled training weeks. We limit the instructor:student ration to 1:4 so you can be assured of plenty of hands-on experience.

Provisioning

The yacht is provisioned to an incredibly high standard meaning that a selection of ingredients for breakfasts, lunches and evening meals taken aboard is provided. A welcome pack of wine and beer is also included. Diesel, marina fees (once away from Rubicon) and end-of-the-course cleaning are also included.  RYA Sailing Courses - Prior Experience

Each course requires different levels of prior experience and knowledge so please refer to each individual course page for specifics. It is highly recommended that students undertake the relevant shorebased theory course before doing the Day Skipper or Coastal Skipper courses.
