Canary Island Sailing

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA The Canary Islands will be the home of Salana Sailing for the winter of 2018/19 and we will be cruising around the islands, Madiera and over to Morocco on our Bavaria 39 and Swan 56 yachts. As the only European destination for guaranteed winter sun the Canary Islands provide a warm and windy sailing destination. Sailing Lanzarote mainly and travelling to and from the other islands either on a course or just for fun.

The islands provide sailing conditions that will leave you exhilarated and wanting more. The ‘Azores High’ usually gives us north-easterly winds which, with the legendary ‘acceleration zones’, can make for lively sailing. However, the sun will be shining and it is usually shorts and t-shirt weather by day. Each of the islands has its own character and the difference, for example, between the touristic destinations of Tenerife could not be in more contrast to the tranquil fishing villages of El Hierro or the remote golden-sand beaches of Lanzarote.
